A BACKGAMMON BLOG
The Internet is a many splendid thing as the song goes, but the principle in the actual song was, Love, but you catch my drift. Love like the Internet has many wonderful attributes, which make it something special, ah to fall in love and feel the palpitations of a beaten heart smitten by the faintest glance of a new love in the making. To feel the tingle of excitement at the first touch of your hand and the first warm glow as our lips touch for the first time, that sets the love bells ringing in our ears, the love that stops you from eating, that captivates you're every waking moment, ah love, as the Beatles so eloquently put it is All you need is love.
Given that for some, the internet evokes that same feeling of excitement and anticipation, can someone please explain to me why we are bombarded day after day by something called a blog.
A blog! Even the very word sounds distasteful, blog why not web log, or web journal, as it is supposed to be a form of personal diary that is a reflection upon the intrinsic values of the writer who so delicately penned it; all be it typed it, but you get the idea.
This emancipation of the spoken word into a virtual message, unlike the now compulsory e-mail, is supposed to entertain the reader whilst at he same time unlocking the secret words of the author who so lovingly crafted the words, the only problem is they make no sense at all, unless that is the point of course.
As someone who is interested in backgammon, I rejoice at the idea of reading about the game through these BLOGS, but upon opening them I am confronted by not a passage about the importance of making a blot or the accent that one should try to promote in an aggressive game, instead I am confronted by the strangulation of the English language, in a somewhat incoherent gibberish that goes something like this.
'Backgammon is a game that online players break into speed and converse with the demons of chance when controlled in the subterranean passage of a knights armoury and inside the plastic gnomes force themselves to the surface of a castle of bubbles and in the at the least most option has cinematic enterprises regaled themselves betty beyond redemption'.
OK, perhaps that was a slight exaggeration, but the infuriation that these missives create for me is not only time wasting as I spend time ploughing through the nonsense to get to the good stuff. I believe it was Walter De La Mere who used to write nonsense rhyme perhaps the spirit of DeLa Mere has infiltrated the virtual world from the spirit world and placed him inside thekeyboardss of each and every non sense blogger. Perhaps it is he that is responsible, for this rich vein of nonsense verbiage.
If you have doubts about this open a few of these Blogs for yourself and see what they say, I am sure some of them have some valuable comments to make but I can't find any yet, oh and if you think this is a Blog it isn't just in case you wanted to ask?.
